In the year 2001, the university was officially re-named as Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) after the 10th Great Supernatural being of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh.

GGSIU has its campus in Dwarka City being recently moved from Kashmere Gate. This new improved campus is spread over 60 acres of land where some portion is still under construction. However, it is safe to move around the campus freely as the work is smartly managed and supervised by experience big staff. On Dwarka campus, the university is directing ten colleges and delivering professional education to over 3000 graduate as well as post-graduate students.   

University Information Resource Centre (Library)

The library of the GGSIPU is re-named as University Information Resource Centre (UIRC), and it was established in the year 1999 with the principal objective to supplement the education and knowledge requests of the students as well as teachers.

As like other departments of GGSIPU, it has moved to the Dwarka campus, however the Information Technology department and Business sections department are still in Kashmere Gate. The facilities provided by UIRC are entirely computerized to prevent errors and maintaining quality work. It has Web OPAC system with university’s website which assists its staff and global educational community to assess the information on the library holdings on-line. Presently its Centre serves more than 4000 members.

Admission to the University

Admission to programs of the university are entirely done by Common Entrance Tests (CETs). Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University holds 46 CETs for admissions to all of its degree courses. It also hold Common Entrance Test for Ph.d program.
