This play is a harsh comment on the Indian family culture and society, representing the lost moral values and relations. The story is about a modern day father who had a glorious career as a government official. But when he retires to savor his last years with his family, he realizes his children have abandoned him. He spends his last days with his wife and a servant (a child he adopted from the streets and raised as his own). He also receives the comfort of companionship from his friends. It is while he is poor that his friend informs him of his fund being cleared by the agencies. The poor old man becomes rich overnight. The moment his children learn of their father's good fortune, they flock to his side. After realizing that his children are after the money, not their father, the old man grieves, and in pain, takes his last breath.
