Industrial Design Centre - Mumbai

Industrial Design Centre (IDC) is a design college in India, started in the year 1969 by the Government of India at the building of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The institute provides innovative design degree programs which will offer its trainees learning everything concerning the field of Industrial Design, animation design, automobile design, visual communication, interaction design and mobility and also Ph.D courses in Design. Due to the available programs a future professional will be able to understand diverse perspectives of associated occupation and what is the most important -a trainee will be able to master all of these aspects in order to become an expert professional.

The key purpose of the IDC is to prepare trainees to enter into novel creative activities as an expert designers who with experience and knowledge can reach the optimize level of design practice, research and development essential for the industry. It started with number of professional courses in industrial design. Later, many innovative degree programs like Bachelor of Design (B. Des) were added to fulfill latest professional requirements.   

Industrial Design Centre as an academy was deemed to be major segment of the 'Indian Institute of Technology Bombay; to give it a sturdy "result oriented" representation so that there is always the probability to actualize the design concepts emerging from its field of teaching and research along with an extensive technological support from the IIT as a whole.

Admission Procedure:

Like all other universities, students must be qualified through Common Entrance Examination for Design. For this, they have to fulfill examination form available at the website of the institute. After qualifying the Common entrance test, students can apply for the admission.

The school has a comfortable location, situated between Powai and Vihar lacks with scenic hills adjacent the school’s building. The institution is positioned on 220 hectares of green land in the north eastern suburbs of Mumbai city.
