Description

With immense pleasure, we welcome you to the World Trauma Congress 2016, to be held at New Delhi, India from Aug 17th through 20th, 2016. The congress co-hosted by the Indian Society for Trauma and Acute Care (ISTAC®®) and the World Coalition for Trauma Care (WCTC) will be organized by the J P N Apex Trauma Centre, All India Institute of Medical Sciences. ISTAC® has been actively involved in advancing the knowledge in the field of Trauma and Acute Care through education and research over the years.

The main objective of this congress is to exchange ideas, experiences and lessons learned about the role of internationally accepted systems and protocols in the field of trauma care, mass causality incidents, and disasters. This meeting will enlighten us regarding issues pertaining to Trauma Systems, Trauma Surgery, Trauma Critical Care, Neuro-trauma, Orthopaedic Trauma, Trauma Reconstructive Surgery, Disaster & Military Surgery, Trauma Nursing, Rehabilitation, Injury prevention as well as issues related to the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety. The congress will also include various pre-conference trauma and critical care related courses.

Holistic trauma care, from “resuscitation to rehabilitation” is inclusive of the pivotal role played by the pre-hospital personnel, nursing and rehabilitation colleagues, therefore this congress aims at bringing all specialists in the field of trauma care and allied specialties together.

The congress will bring together delegates and distinguished speakers from across the globe. Being a nascent speciality in major part of the world the congress would encourage young talent in this field to showcase their research work and experiences through various sessions. Such a summit would be incomplete without the active participation of various national and international societies/ Associations/ Groups/ NGO’s working for the care of the injured worldwide. We solicit active participation of all such societies and collaboration by bringing in their members as delegates and faculty to this Congress.

India is undoubtedly the most diverse nation in the world. Renowned for its rich cultural attractions and natural beauty, this land of one billion people with a variety in languages, cultures, ethnic groups, beliefs and lifestyles makes her stand apart from the rest. It is a land of credible paradoxes and yet underlying the contrasts, there are patterns of continuity, an indefinable essence that is quintessentially Indian. Much of India’s fascination perhaps lies in the fact that it is both a young nation and an ancient country rolled into one where past and present co-exist in a beautiful mosaic.

For a first time visitor, India can be overwhelming at first, but she gradually unfolds her rare delights. You may find it in the centuries old temples, tombs and forts, in the exquisite crafts still made in traditional ways, in the riot of colours and aromas of its bazaars or in the sudden glimpses of its serene beauty that filters through the hustle and bustle of daily life.

India's capital and a major gateway to the country, contemporary Delhi is a bustling metropolis, which successfully combines in its folds - the ancient with the modern. One of the most historic capitals in the world, Delhi is a treasure trove that reveals the ultimate combination of tradition and trends. A tour of Delhi will provide the visitor with much to see and admire from Mughal monuments to modern malls, from traditional arts and crafts to trendy fashion shows, from skyscrapers to parks and gardens.

Delhi consists of Old Delhi, the capital of the Mughals centred at the Red Fort; and New Delhi, known for its British imperial buildings and wide avenues. Delhi is in fact really two distinct cities - the energy and colour and the thronged bazaars and Mughal architecture of Old Delhi, contrast with the formal splendour of New Delhi, whose wide boulevards offer ever-changing perspectives of Lutyen's landscaped city. The division between New and Old Delhi is the distinction between the capitals of the British and the Mughals respectively. The walled Old city retains its past traditions and one can get a glimpse of a past life with its many facets, colours and spells. New Delhi, in contrast, is a city trying to live up to the best of twenty-first century standards. The charm of New Delhi lies in the variety and vibrancy in its pace of life. Amidst the tall and modern skyscrapers the remnants of a bygone time in the form of its many monuments stand as silent reminders to the region's ancient legacy.
