Parikrma is a rock and roll band from Delhi, India. They have several live performances and original numbers to their name. The band was officially formed on 17 June 1991 in Delhi. The word parikrama means 'orbital revolutions' in Sanskrit.
New Delhi, 2016: If you are a rock fan, watching the band Parikrama, perform live is a dream come true. The legendary rock band will be performing at the Hard Rock Café Gurgaon this month. Witness Nitin Malik on lead vocals, Sonam Sherpa and Saurabh Chaudhry on the guitars, Subir Malik on the keyboard, Gaurav Balani on bass and Srijan Mahajan on drums, accompanied by violinist Imran Khanand and table player Shambu Nath.
Parikrama, which means ‘orbital revolutions’, burst onto the Indian rock music scene in 1991. What sets the band apart is its brand of fusion music, complete with Indian musical instruments like the tabla. With over 3,000 shows in countries like USA, Russia Load, Ethopia and Nigeria,Parikrama has conquered the hearts of millions.
The band had caught the attention of Iron Maiden’s manager, Rod Smallwood and was invited to seven shows in United Kingdom including the Download Festival and at venues like Rio, The Underground and The Peel. The band to its credit has smashing hits like Am I Dreaming, But It Rained,I Believe, Vapourize, In the Middle and One. In its 2014 listing of '25 Greatest Indian Rock Songs of the last 25 Years', Rolling Stone India featured the band’s But It Rained (Single, 1996).
