Kullu celebrates the festival of Dussehra with a unique enthusiasm and enjoyment. Dussehra is celebrated as a symbol of the defeat of the demon Ravana. Schedule for the Kullu Dussehra 2018 is as, starting from the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami on 19th October 2018. Celebrations will be held for 7 days and will end on 25th October 2018.In Kullu, Dussehra starts with a massive mela (carnival) and parade. Kullu Dussehra 2018 will start with a huge possession leading by a rath (chariot) holding the statue of Lord Raghunath from the Raghunath Temple in Sultanpur. Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the new, or 'white' moon in October. Around 250 to 300 devtas (deities) make their way to Kullu to pay homage to Raghunath ji. The Kullu Dussehra committee will organize seven days long festivities on the occasion of Kullu Dussehra 2018. Similar to every year, arrangements are made for a huge mela, a temporary bazaar (market) is set up, which will sell everything from locally made kullu shawls and shoes, to colorful plastic toys. Several local groups performs the graceful Natti dance which makes it a great interest worth watching. Many travelers specially stay in Kullu town and the only real attraction for them is the famous International Mega Dussehra festival or popularly known as Kullu Dussehra in Himachal Pradesh.
